Lazing Llama: Aleksandra Wlodarczyk Homage

A Homage? What's a Homage?
The formal definition for a homage is: A show or demonstration of respect or dedication to someone or something, sometimes by simple declaration but often by some more oblique reference, artistic or poetic. The term is often used in the arts for where one author or artist shows respect to another by allusion or imitation. In this project, I've created a homage of an Illustrator that I admire and wanted to capture their soft and nurturing style within the design of my own drop cap. I've accomplished this by applying a number of their techniques to the design.
So... Who is Aleksandra Wlodarczyk?
Aleksandra Włodarczyk is a slowly rising polish illustrator who mostly specialises in storybook illustrations both for personal work as well as projects and commissions. While very little information is known on the internet about this artist as of the making of this drop cap though their work has inspired a number of recent drop cap illustrators.

They have produced a book by the title of ‘Jeżyka called pajacykiem’ and are slowly moving to creating patterns for cloth and fabrics. Alex’s work focuses on the family demographic and their illustrations reflect as such. Soft to the eyes with a limited colour pallets and very simplistic symbols and shapes.  Some of their completed projects include; board games, health posters, storybooks, 30 days of type, a series of pictograms for Ikea catalogues and even participation awards for afterschool sporting events.
